Three of Monaco's grand hotels, Hôtel de Paris, Hôtel Hermitage and Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo, have been named among the world's best in La Liste 2026, the annual ranking that aggregates ratings from hundreds of newspapers, guides, blogs, specialised magazines and review platforms into a single global list. The recognition places all three among roughly a thousand properties worldwide judged worthy of inclusion in this year's edition, reaffirming Monaco's standing as one of the most concentrated clusters of decorated luxury hotels anywhere on the list.
Hôtel de Paris, the Belle Époque flagship of the Place du Casino, has anchored Monaco's hospitality scene since it first opened in 1864, and remains the property most closely associated with the principality's image abroad. Directly across the square, Hôtel Hermitage carries its own architectural pedigree, built in 1896 by Monegasque architect Nicolas Marquet and still centred on a winter garden capped by a glass dome designed by Gustave Eiffel.
The third Monaco property on the list, Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo, sits a short walk away in the Carré d'Or shopping district and takes a different approach from its two Place du Casino neighbours, favouring an independent identity over the Société des Bains de Mer operation that runs the other two. Its thermal pool, designed with input from Karl Lagerfeld, has become one of the hotel's own signature features.
This year's La Liste saw ten hotels worldwide share the top position with matching scores of 99.5 out of 100, led by properties including La Réserve Paris and Le Meurice, underlining just how competitive the upper end of the ranking has become. Against that backdrop, having three separate properties recognised from a principality as small as Monaco is a notable showing, and one that keeps the Place du Casino and its surrounding streets firmly in the conversation about where the world's best hospitality is actually delivered.
