The Monaco based Stelios Philanthropic Foundation has once again lent its support to a cause close to the principality: protecting the environment. At its 14th annual charity dinner, held on Wednesday, September 30, the organisation raised 610,000 euros for WWF International and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. This year's edition was dedicated entirely to protecting the Mediterranean Sea.

The 610,000 euro total was made possible by donations from 60 philanthropists who attended the evening alongside Prince Albert II and Daudi Sumba, Director of Conservation for WWF International. The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation then matched those donations euro for euro.

“Tonight, we have reached another significant milestone in protecting our Mediterranean Sea,” said Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation. “By doubling the funds raised and dividing them equally between WWF and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, we are ensuring that every euro donated has twice the impact.”

Across its fourteen editions, the dinner has now raised a combined 4.2 million euros for the two organisations.
