This October, one of Bulgaria’s most unusual event formats will unfold not in Sofia but at Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport, where aviation, premium mobility, business and public spectacle will meet on the same runway.

Aviation Day 2026 takes place on 17 October and is conceived as much more than an air show. The programme combines aviation demonstrations and aircraft displays with technology zones, a premium automotive showcase and a private business forum bringing together aviation professionals, investors, institutions, academia and international partners.

At the heart of the day will be Diamond Aircraft. The Austrian manufacturer is listed as a strategic partner, with aircraft from its modern light-aircraft family expected on display, including the DA40 NG, DA42-VI, DA50 RG and DA62. For visitors, the appeal is immediate: the opportunity to experience contemporary aircraft at close range. For business guests, the significance is different, opening conversations around flight training, aircraft acquisition, aviation services and investment.

Range Rover is also a strategic partner, adding a premium mobility dimension to a day built around movement by air and land. Exhibition areas are planned for technology organizations, drone companies, aviation schools and academies, while music, artistic performances and hospitality will give the programme a broader lifestyle character.

Behind the event is a regional ambition. Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport is located in central northern Bulgaria and is seeking a stronger role in civil and business aviation, cargo operations, aircraft maintenance and aviation training. The city itself benefits from rail, road and air links, while new industrial infrastructure is being developed close to the airport.

Galya Raycheva is involved in the organizing work around Aviation Day, with the airport hosting the forum, support from the Municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa and TouchPoint serving as organizational partner.

For international visitors already familiar with Sofia or the Black Sea coast, the event offers another image of Bulgaria: industrial, connected, ambitious and increasingly interested in the meeting point between technology and experience. The most interesting question may come after the aircraft leave. Can one spectacular aviation day help establish a new destination for business, mobility and investment? Gorna Oryahovitsa is preparing to make its case.
