Olivier Pages has served as chief operating officer and second executive officer of CMB Monaco since December 2025, overseeing an end to end transformation of the bank that spans its operations, its organisation and its technology, all aimed at improving performance, resilience and service quality at once rather than tackling each in turn. He arrived at the role after serving as the bank's chief innovation officer and chief of staff, positions that put him at the centre of CMB Monaco's modernisation well before his current title made it official.

The technology piece of that transformation is genuinely a first for the region. CMB Monaco became the first bank in Europe to adopt the combination of Avaloq's banking platform with BlackRock's Aladdin Wealth system, pairing core banking infrastructure with the same risk analytics platform BlackRock built for its own institutional investment business, a combination few private banks anywhere have implemented together.

In a recent interview, Pages described using artificial intelligence built on the BlackRock partnership to compress dense analytical reports into targeted summaries a banker can actually use in a client meeting, with a longer term goal of flagging weak signals inside a portfolio automatically, sector overexposure or emerging counterparty risk, before they become a visible problem. He was careful to draw a line around what the technology is for, insisting the banker stays in control and that the tools are built to enhance human judgement rather than substitute for it.

Pages brings more than 18 years in private banking, financial services and consulting to the role, backed by an EDHEC Business School degree and a Disruptive Strategy certification from Harvard Business School, a background that reads as built specifically for the kind of change management a modernisation this size actually requires. Breaking habits, his own phrase for what the transformation demands, is easier to say than to execute inside an institution built on decades of relationship banking, and CMB Monaco's bet is that the technology only works if the bankers using it stay convinced it is making their own judgement sharper rather than replacing it.
