The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will add Monte Carlo as a permanent stop starting in May 2027, with the train travelling from Paris to Venice by way of the French Riviera before reaching the principality. The route calls at Monte Carlo station, tucked beneath the Rock.

The journey departs Paris and winds along the Côte d'Azur, passing the dramatic red cliffs of the Massif de l'Estérel, before continuing through Saint-Raphaël, Cannes and Nice on the way to Monte Carlo. From there the train continues on to Venice, the storied destination of the legendary service operated by Belmond.

Onboard, guests can book a historic cabin, a grand suite, or the L'Observatoire carriage, designed by the artist JR, which includes a bedroom, an en suite bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, a living area, a library and a secret tearoom. Dinner is served in one of two restaurant cars, Étoile du Nord and L'Oriental, while the Bar Car '3674' offers cocktails accompanied by live piano music. Breakfast, served with views over the Riviera, features fresh pastries and pressed juices.

Fares start at 4,870 euros per person for two guests sharing a historic cabin, including round the clock steward service, all meals with sommelier selected wines, unlimited soft drinks and transfers. Pascal Deyrolle, Area Managing Director at Belmond, said Monaco has long held a special place in European travel, and that the new stop represents a natural continuation for the luxury rail experience.
