# Italian President Sergio Mattarella to Make State Visit to Monaco in October

Italian President Sergio Mattarella will make a state visit to the principality on October 2 and 3. Responding to an invitation from Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, he will be accompanied by his daughter, Laura Mattarella.

The state visit, the highest ranking form of official visit under Prince's Palace protocol, will be a first in Monaco's history. According to a statement issued by the Palace on Thursday, it will reflect the close and historic ties that unite the two countries.

Mattarella will become the fourth head of state to make an official visit to the principality in just a few months, following Emmanuel Macron in June 2025, former Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in November 2025, and Pope Leo XIV in March 2026.

The programme for the visit has not yet been announced. The Palace said it would highlight the dynamism of bilateral relations between Italy and the principality, the quality of the bonds of friendship between the two, and a shared desire to deepen cooperation on subjects of common interest.
