# Former French Minister Brune Poirson Joins Monaco's Environmental Foundation Board

Brune Poirson has joined the Board of Directors of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, a move announced this week that brings a career split between French government and global hospitality into the foundation's leadership. Her arrival adds someone who has sat on both sides of environmental policy, writing the rules from inside a ministry and then applying them from inside a multinational company, to a board built around exactly that kind of dual perspective.

Between 2017 and 2020, Poirson served as France's Secretary of State for Ecological Transition, a post from which she steered the Anti Waste Law for a Circular Economy through to passage and represented France at international climate and biodiversity negotiations. The waste law reshaped how French businesses handle everything from single use plastics to unsold goods, giving her a legislative record that predates her move into the private sector by several years.

She now serves as Director of Sustainable Development at Accor and sits on the hotel group's Executive Committee, a role that puts environmental and social strategy for roughly 110 countries under her direct oversight. Running sustainability policy at that scale inside one of the world's largest hospitality groups is a different discipline from writing national legislation, and it is the combination of both that the foundation's board is gaining rather than either on its own.

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has built its mission around advancing planetary health and has been explicit about wanting more private sector involvement in that effort, which makes Poirson's background less a coincidental fit than a deliberate one. A board member who has already run sustainability strategy across a global company's entire international footprint arrives with a working sense of what mobilising private capital and corporate commitment actually requires, rather than a theoretical one.
