Against the timeless backdrop of the Venice Lido, international model and entrepreneur Azul Coral made an elegant appearance at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, attending the premiere of Kvinde Ukendt (Woman Unknown) in the prestigious Sala Grande. For the evening, Coral chose a shimmering silver gown complemented by diamonds, a look that reflected the unmistakable glamour of Venice while remaining modern and refined. The cameras captured the immediate moment, but her appearance also represented the continuation of a career that began almost a decade earlier, long before business, international travel and major red carpets became part of her life. The evening itself would acquire even greater significance only days later. Directed by Danish filmmaker May el-Toukhy, Woman Unknown was presented in the main Venezia 83 Competition on September 6. The 124-minute Danish-language drama, a Denmark, Sweden and Latvia co-production, stars Mathilde Arcel alongside Carsten Bjørnlund, Thorbjørn Hedegaard, Marina Bouras and an ensemble Scandinavian cast. Set in the turbulent aftermath of the Second World War, the film follows Marie, a young nanny and housemaid preparing to marry Christian, the wealthy older widower for whom she works. Her opportunity to enter a new social world is threatened by a secret from the occupation: an intimate relationship with a German soldier. As her past begins to resurface, Marie is forced to confront a society in which female sexuality, reputation and national identity have become dangerously intertwined. Director May el-Toukhy has described the film as an exploration of the female body as a battlefield and of women whose experiences during and after wartime have often remained outside traditional historical narratives. The film ultimately became one of the defining successes of this year’s festival. On September 12, the international jury chaired by Maggie Gyllenhaal awarded Woman Unknown the Golden Lion for Best Film, the highest honour of the Venice International Film Festival. Mathilde Arcel completed the film’s remarkable night by receiving the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress for her performance as Marie. For Coral, being present in Venice also carried a personal symbolism. She began modelling in Argentina at only 15, entering an industry that quickly took her beyond her home country. At 17, she made the move onto the international fashion stage with her debut in Milan. Her subsequent career included a Sephora campaign and walking for Fendi in Rome, followed by work and professional experiences across Europe, Dubai and Asia. Travelling and working internationally from such a young age demanded independence and discipline, qualities that would later become central to a very different part of her professional life. As her modelling career developed, Coral became increasingly interested in investments and real estate. What began as personal investment gradually evolved into an entrepreneurial direction and eventually into her own venture, Azur Propiedades, with a focus on property, investment and long-term development. Today, at 24, she represents an increasingly modern profile in which fashion and entrepreneurship are not competing identities but complementary ones. Her next chapter will also bring her back to Argentina, where she is preparing to compete in Miss Universe Argentina next year.
