Artists familiar to Monaco audiences will appear alongside the Filharmonie Brno and Maestro Arkady Beryn in Berlin on 2 November 2026. Monaco audiences will recognise more than one name on the programme of the Operngala-Nacht at the Philharmonie Berlin this November. Soprano Alisa Medvedeva made her Monaco debut at the Théâtre des Muses in March 2026, and French baritone Florian Sempey has appeared at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo in two productions. On 2 November, the two singers will meet on another European stage: the Großer Saal of the Philharmonie Berlin. They will be joined by American tenor René Barbera and the Filharmonie Brno under the direction of Maestro Arkady Beryn for an evening of opera and orchestral music.Medvedeva’s first appearance in the Principality came on 9 March 2026, when she gave a recital of opera arias and romances for International Women’s Day at the Théâtre des Muses, accompanied by pianist Giulio Zappa. The evening ended in standing ovations, and the soprano was profiled the same year by Monaco’s IPremium magazine as one of the faces of opera’s new generation. A graduate of the Saint Petersburg Conservatoire, she has performed at venues including Dubai Opera, Wiener Stadthalle and Mozarthaus Vienna, as well as in Paris, Lisbon, Porto Cervo, St. Moritz and Bucharest. Her recent appearances include performances with Andrea Bocelli and Il Divo. The French baritone Florian Sempey is known internationally for roles including Figaro in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and has appeared at the Opéra national de Paris, the Royal Opera House in London and the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. Monaco audiences know him from the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, where he made his house debut as Marcello in La bohème in the 2024/25 season and returned for the Ravel double bill of L’heure espagnole and L’enfant et les sortilèges. In Berlin, his programme includes Rossini’s “Largo al factotum”, Mozart’s “Fin ch’han dal vino” and the Toreador Song from Bizet’s Carmen.Joining them is American tenor René Barbera, the first singer to win all three top prizes at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition in 2011. His international career has taken him to the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Opéra national de Paris, the Vienna State Opera and the Bavarian State Opera. The three soloists will perform with the Filharmonie Brno, one of the Czech Republic’s leading orchestras. Founded in 1956, the ensemble will contribute a selection of orchestral works to a programme that moves between opera arias, duets and orchestral music. At the podium is Maestro Prof. Arkady Beryn. A conductor with more than forty years’ experience and Chief Conductor of the Internationale Symphoniker Deutschland from 2003 to 2011, he has led orchestras from the Berliner Symphoniker to the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Győr Philharmonic, and has conducted in the Vienna Musikverein, the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. He has appeared repeatedly with soprano Aida Garifullina – at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf in 2025 and the Wiener Konzerthaus in 2026 – and with Roberto Alagna, José Carreras and Maria Guleghina. In July 2026 he conducted a concert performance of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin in Jerusalem. He and Medvedeva have worked together before, most recently with the Győr Philharmonic in Hungary in August 2025.For Monaco readers, the Berlin gala offers a connection between familiar artists and a new setting. Medvedeva moves from the intimate Théâtre des Muses to the Großer Saal of the Philharmonie, while Sempey returns to Germany following a career that has taken him between many of Europe’s major opera houses. The Operngala-Nacht takes place at the Philharmonie Berlin on Monday, 2 November 2026, at 20:00. Tickets are available from €26.50.EVENT INFORMATIONOperngala-Nacht – Opera Gala at the Philharmonie BerlinMonday, 2 November 2026, 20:00Philharmonie Berlin – Großer SaalHerbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, 10785 Berlin, GermanyConductor: Maestro Arkady BerynSoloists: René Barbera, tenor; Florian Sempey, baritone; Alisa Medvedeva, sopranoOrchestra: Filharmonie Brno (Brno Philharmonic)Programme: Arias, duets, overtures and intermezzi by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Puccini, Bizet, Verdi, Mascagni, Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Dvořák and Zequinha de AbreuTickets: from €26.50 via Eventim – eventim.de/artist/philharmonie-berlin/operngala-nacht-philhamonie-berlin-4122419Event page: Philharmonie Berlin – berliner-philharmoniker.de/en/concert/calendar/57371Event listing: visitBerlin – visitberlin.de/en/event/brno-philharmonic-opera-gala-night
